Lopon Dorje Khandro (Dr. Lourdes Arguelles) is teaching a series based on "A Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life", a text written by the 8th century sage Shantideva. The text describes the steps that we can take to cultivate a compassionate, peaceful, and wise way of life and is remarkably relevant for our troubled times. HH the Dalai Lama has said : "If I have any understanding of compassion and the bodhisattva path, it all comes from studying this text." 

The teaching sessions will be preceded by a brief Shamatha meditation practice and followed by guided contemplations based on the text.

Venerable Khenpo Sönam Döndrub

Venerable Khenpo Döndrub is visiting some friends in the US and we are pleased to have the opportunity to host him here at DKC to give Dharma teachings for a blessing connection with the center and our sangha.  We hope that everyone will have the opportunity to receive these teachings and make a connection with Khenpo.  We thank you for your kind support to flourish the teachings of the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.

Program Details:

10am – 12pm     Khenpo will give teachings on the 37 Practices of the Bodhisattva 

12pm –  2pm      Lunch break with potluck lunch (**please bring something to share or bring you own lunch if you are on a special diet)

2pm – 5pm         Question and Answer and Medicine Buddha practice 

 

Suggested donation: $20  Donation offerings to cover Khenpo’s travel expenses and to make an offering to the lamas

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  We invite you to join us Sunday morning, July 8th, at 10:00 AM to share in our annual celebration of the birthdays of H.H. Dalai Lama and H.H. Drikung Kyabgon.  Beginning at 10:00 AM Drupon Samten  and the DKC monastics will lead the sangha in traditional Amitayus Long Life Prayers and Tsok offering.

After those ceremonies we will continue with a potluck lunch around noon. You are welcome to bring a favorite dish to share for the potluck meal, or feel free to bring your own food if you have dietary restrictions.

Special Buddha’s birthday program (Vesak Festival) on Sunday May 6th at Miles Square Park in Fountain Valley in Orange County sponsored by the Vietnamese American United Buddhist Congregation and the Southern Vietnamese Buddhist Community in dedication of World Peace.

The monastics program begins at 10AM on Sunday.  All participants are requested to join starting at 8AM on Sunday.

Food will be offered on Sunday.  DKC monastics will be there for the monastic program on Sunday.

We invite you to join us in in accumulating merit by participating in a Volunteer Cleanup Day this coming Saturday, February 10th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm  in preparation for the upcoming White Dzambhala Drupchen Retreat and Losar Celebration February 15th-18th.

The monastery will provide pizza and salad for lunch.  If you cannot be with us for the entire day, please come for as much time as you can. There will be no evening program on Saturday, the 10th.
