Lopon Wangdu (Dr. Michael Essex) will share ‘The story of the Mani Kabum’. As a follow up to the empowerment and teachings given recently to us by Khenchen Rangdol Rinpoche regarding the practice of Chenrezig from the Mani Kabum, there are questions to be answered.

What is the Mani Kabum ? Why is it so revered by Tibetans ? When did it originate ? Who originated the teachings and what was his place in the Tibetan history ? All this, and more.

This session will be Online and In-Person.

LOPON KONCHOK WANGDU (Dr. Michael Essex) began seriously studying Tibetan Buddhism in 1985 at the Tibetan Meditation Center in Washington, DC. Under Khenchen Gyaltshen Rinpoche, he studied meditation and Buddhist philosophy, with special emphasis on the Jewel Ornament of Liberation. He developed a system for computer publishing of bilingual Tibetan and English meditation texts. He became a close disciple of the late Drupon Samten Rinpoche since the early days of Rinpoche’s arrival in the USA in 1987.  In September 2010, Ngakpa Wangdu was authorized to teach by His Holiness The Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang and leads both formal and informal classes on Buddhist philosophy and practice.
